I was a mentor and helped to improve students skills both in education, as well as leadership, social/emotional, outreach and community service. I managed team of approximately 15 middle school students who provided various community service projects around the Columbia, SC area. We would spend our Saturday learning about a need in the area and then doing something to help that need. For example, one Saturday, we learned about mental health and then went into a mental health facility to improve the kids area by painting murals and blacktop games for the kids in the facility.School Partnership Team - August 2007 - December 2007During my second term, I was on a school partnership team and worked in an elementary school with a primary focus on 2nd grade. My team also provided school wide initiatives and whole school support by means of family nights and after school programming.
