After filling in a few times for staff absences, Eldercare invited me to work ongoing after a staff member stepped down, and I jumped at the opportunity.At Eldercare I acquired a lot of new skills such as placing and receiving orders and accounts, and I learned a lot of new business applications, such as RiteqWFM, EpicorARM, PeoplePoint, and Epicor Productions. I also honed my general reception/administrative skills in a diverse workplace of 200+ staff, reporting directly to the Site Operations Manager. These skills included data entry, switchboard management, document presentation, seeing to visitors’ needs, processing mail, etc.The Lodge houses 225 residents, with many admissions, discharges, and respite-permanent residencies, meaning there was always a lot to do to maintain and update resident, employee, and visitor databases. I enjoyed my time at Eldercare, and now look to finding a job more closely aligned with my degree.

My passion for animal care led me to the veterinary industry, where I learned and developed many skills, as it is a very broad role. The reception and administration skills I believe I can adapt to many other roles, as well as the customer service furthered throughout this role. After working for 3 years in the industry, at Eastside Vet and work experience at other clinics the year prior, I have decided to leave the industry, because it lacked a visual communication aspect, which I truly thrive from.
