Working with the R&D team at Cambridge University Engineering Department to learn and develop the Ultra Long Carbon Nanotube (ULCNT) process to pilot plant scale.Q-Flo Materials Experts are manufacturers and developers of advanced carbon based materials for a greener and safer environment.

Working with the former MD of Cornelius Specialities to build a new company to manufacture high-purity and high-value medical grade chemicals. The process of building the new company started at the onset of the Covid pandemic and included design, build and commissioning of the plant and then scale-up of ~10 products from gram to multiple-hundred kilo scale. Other tasks and responsibilities included:- Working with contractors, suppliers and consultants and co-ordinating workflow- Plant and process design including design calculations, diagrams, equipment specification, HAZOP, ATEX classification/ DSEAR and contribution to application for EPR licence.- Plant commissioning in a controlled and methodical way- Scale-up of multiple products from lab to plant, many involving flammable/ toxic/ corrosive materials and large exotherms.- Recruitment of manufacturing operatives and subsequent training- Helping to implement ISO 9001 including deciding on company policies and SOP's, writing work instructions for processes and equipment and guiding others.- Managing the plant (engineering and production) including maintenance, troubleshooting, new process implementation, upgrades, contactor management, stock control, production planning, supervision of plant operators, maintaining the QHSE standards.

Development and production of CFQD's on a commercial scale. Developing and optimising manufacturing processes. Operating high-tech automated reactor systems. Maintaining a safe manufacturing environment and developing operating procedures.

Maintaining a support service for production activities. Manufacturing precursors. Stock control. Waste management. Equipment calibrations and maintenance. Electrical testing. Writing and developing SOP's. Developing support systems to improve safety, cut costs and improve efficiency.
