HD is a busy design consultancy, taking on large medical device, healthcare and scientific design projects for pharmaceutical companies along with SME’s. I work across HD’s product developement workflow, exploring new opportunities, concepting, conducting detailed design development, building and testing prototypes and industrialisation.Since joining HD I have managed and completed a successful Industrial Design project for a household name brand, to visible satisfaction, along with working full time as an engineer on two large additional projects of a medical nature. Predominantly for a leading manufacturer/retailer of electromechanical sanitaryware. Expereince gained with Injection Moulding, Sheet Metal, Fabrication and Additive DfM/DfA.Daily Tasks Involve:Producing elegant, sustainable, user centred design solutions.Solving significant engineering problems.Working at the intersection of electronic, software and mechanical design.Use of SOLIDWORKS to develop full device models and high quality engineering drawings. Use of SOLIDWORKS to conduct FEA studies to validate designs.Maintaining regulatory understanding. E.g. with EU/UK MDR, ISO 14971, IEC 62366.Working to both ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 with assistance from collegues.Documentation.Manufacturer/supplier liaison.Project management.Lots of coffee!

Elusive Parts was a new start-up looking to reproduce NLA and hard to find classic car parts using state of the art 3D scanning techniques and 3D printing. My role was to help the company grow by conducting research into how we could create a functional process using this technology, and by doing so create a compelling business that aims to preserve the heritage of our classic cars.

RedSpeed International Ltd. are a technology company focusing on the design of vehicle speed detection and enforcement solutions. Produced a number of concepts for the industrial design and worked on development of the internal layout for a new camera head to be used in the future speed enforcement systems.Lead discussions with potential manufacturers of the housing, specifically with respect to aluminium extrusion.
