I follow and report about business and economic trends, including local and regional economies, employment and law, workers' compensation and disability insurance and law, and the evolution of new shared economy. My career arc started in daily newspapers, then moved into writing for trade publications and the web. During the dot.com boom of the late 1990s, I left the daily newspaper business and started a freelance writing and editing company. The big announcements by companies and regulators get all of the headlines, however, the real stories lie in the small details.

Oxnard, Ca

As a media professional with a workers' compensation news and information product line, I was an editor and California legal reporter for the News Department. I covered the lead up to the California Supreme Court ruling in Brody-Welcher and attended oral arguments before the CA Supreme Court. I filed stories from major work comp conferences in California and from the Florida Workers' Comp Conference, plus staffed exhibit booths at the National WC Conference & Expo in Las Vegas. In 2008, I pushed back from reporting to concentrate on the business side of the media site. Advertising manager was my title for awhile, until I was pulled up to Marketing Director and into the Continuing Education department, where I found my niche creating CE programs for attorneys, physicians, medical evaluators, and service providers in the California system. My best job yet!

West Coast

I managed a quarterly magazine about California coastal farming and agribusiness. I required Editing, Journalism, Photography, Organization, Project Management, Management and Budgeting. My readers worked in agriculture and the support industries for the Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo tri-counties area. Also, was a contributing writer for the California Farm Bureau newspaper, Ag Alert.

West Coast

Writer for TV home-improvement expert Bob Vila, known for PBS' "This Old House."

Los Angeles

News and entertainment section copyeditor, and for one year wrote a weekly film-events column. My beat included the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and their year-round cinema events at the Academy headquarters in Beverly Hills.
