As Policy Director, I oversaw NC Child's public policy advocacy and managed our external communications to build support for our policy priorities.

The Covenant with North Carolina's Children was a broad coalition of over 50 child-serving organizations who came together to pursue shared public policy priorities. As executive director, I served as the organization's chief lobbyist and spokesperson, managed internal coalition relations, and raised money from member organizations and foundations. In 2013, I worked with the chair of our board of directors to guide the Covenant through a successful merger with Action for Children NC. The result of the merger was the creation of NC Child.
