Working in the newsroom at WABE-FM 90.1 (Atlanta's NPR station), I worked with the journalists on reporting and presentation of the news. My responsibilities included: (1) developing infographics, timelines, slide shows, charts and graphs, interactive maps, FAQs, and other components of news stories; (2) doing background research on news stories; (3) regularly posting to Facebook, Twitter and other social media about news events; and (4) writing stories and summaries, especially for breaking news. I also worked on PBA's contribution to the American Archive project, an initiative by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to create a national digital archive of public broadcasting programming. In 2013, WABE News won nine Associated Press awards for Georgia, including Radio Station of the Year.

Worked as a consultative sales representative to academic, public, and corporate libraries. Consulted with member libraries to identify and select databases and electronic reference products for purchase by these institutions. Worked as both a field rep and an inside rep during my tenure. Answered questions from library management about products, options, costs, and alternatives. Researched library and publishing industry issues; used this information in white papers and presentations at professional conferences.

Taught a core curriculum class online entitled Introduction to Reference Services, a required class for all SJSU library graduate school students; designed curriculum and selected readings; used distance learning software for instruction (both real-time and asynchronous); developed online lectures, class exercises, projects, and assignments that could be completed on the students' personal schedules. Taught two sections of this class (25 students/section) each semester.

I founded this consulting company to conduct research on contract using publicly-available resources. Our clients, many of which were with Fortune 500 companies, were primarily executives in top management, strategic planning, competitive intelligence, marketing, public relations, R&D and other departments. We responded to individual research requests, created customized news and alerting services, wrote briefing backgrounders, white papers, and presentations. We also developed proprietary statistical methods to analyze corporate media coverage and used this to produce studies for our clients of how their media coverage compared with that of their peers. We also researched and provided CNN Headline News (now HLN) with quick, interesting statistics they called Factoids for nine years.

Was a member of the faculty at the CAU Graduate School of Library and Information Studies, an ALA-accredited library school. Taught classes on reference services and online research, library automation, and digital libraries. Was selected by the Provost's office to consult with other CAU faculty to develop the school's first distance learning classes.
