I worked as an Ad-Hoc Field Chemist which required mobilising to offshore assets to assist in various aspects of plant process and analysis. These assignments can be from 4 days offshore up to 3 weeks on trips and are a either day shifts or night shifts. As well as the Ad-Hoc work I also do Chemist Rotation Cover at a gas plant for several trips which ranged from 7-day assignments up to 26 days. The offshore duties include (but are not limited to): Dispersed Oil in Produced Water by IR Spectrophotometer (OIW) analysis, Karl Fisher (Water content), Mohr Titration, Sand content of Crude Oil, Water and Sediment by Centrifuge, Operation of Pro-Mix Bench SS-130/150, H2S in Gas by Pump & Tube, Gas Dewpoint by Shaw Meter, Density by Oscillating U-Tube, Density by Hydrometer, Alkalinity of Water by Titration, use of various test kits (CHEMETS), Chemical injection monitoring, HACH test kits; COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand), Phenol, Ammonium, Total, Phosphate, Cationic Surfactants and Nitrate, Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Turbidity, ph testing probs. My offshore OPITO certificates are also in date till Oct 2023 which include BOSIET, MIST and Medical.When my duties don't take me offshore I am working in the laboratories in the Production Chemistry and the Water Chemistry sections. I worked in the Bond Department as a bar packer for the Duty Free stock that is served aboard flights going to all parts of the world. The stock included the Tobacco, Alcohol, Perfumes and food and drink stocks.I was responsible for recording all the returned stock in the bars and refilling the bars on time as the turn over for the bars were short as the we supplied Glasgow Airport and Edinburgh Airport.My other duties included "Bar checking" which involved checking that the bars were… Show more I worked in the Bond Department as a bar packer for the Duty Free stock that is served aboard flights going to all parts of the world.
