I joined the senior leadership team of GSD Advisors (GSD) as the CIO at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, taking on responsibilities for the agency’s pandemic response, business development, systems and processes, capabilities and frameworks, and various policies and standards. During this time, I led the transition to remote delivery of services, completed a review of the agency’s cybersecurity and hardening of systems and processes, developed new organisational policies, implemented a new job management and invoicing solution, and contributed to the development of the agency’s new strategy and business model, all while the team grew from 20 to 30+ consultants. In addition to my substantive role, I also delivered a series of strategic initiatives for our clients during this time, including the Department of Health and the Tasmanian Walking Company. I remained in this role until a company restructure introduced a new set of leadership roles.

The Australian Computer Society (ACS) is a not-for-profit membership organisation supporting more than 20,000 ICT professionals across Australia. It provides a range of direct services to its members as well as engaging in a range of industry activities, including advocacy with State and Federal Governments.The Government Relations & Policy Committee is the ACS' national advocacy governance body, with responsibility for directing and monitoring the development of policy positions and responses across the organisation. As a founding member of this key committee, my responsibilities include: advising the ACS on key policy issues that need to be addressed; setting policy priorities for the ACS; endorsement of the annual policy plan; commissioning of policy research; engagement with members on policy issues.

The Applications Team is responsible for management of package systems, customisation of package systems and custom application development within the Corporate IT department. We provide internal consulting services to the business as well as third-tier software support for the Transend Service Desk. The Applications Team employs ITIL aligned incident, problem, change and release management processes as well as a formalised AGILE software development methodology.The Infrastructure Team is responsible for all physical and virtual servers, SANs, ICT security, core back end systems and performance / fault monitoring. The infrastructure team was one of the first in Tasmania to implement a fully visualised server environment and now manage one of the most advanced in the state.My role also includes active involvement in strategic ICT planning and policy development.In addition to my primary role I am also Chair of the Transend Application Integration Committee and Transend's representative with Australian Energy Market Operator's Energy Market Information Technology Steering Committee Data Management Working Group.

It is conducted with the full support of Federal, State and Local governments as well as industry and encourages innovation in the use of available government data to drive community benefits and potentially open new commercial markets.

Senior Developer working on (and managing) a wide range of Web Application projects. I have spent most of my time with ICS working independant of supervision and have guided a number of projects from conception through to client sign-off for corporate and government customers.

I was contracted to develop an upgrade to the company's management system that would add inventory tracking as well as more advanced reporting functionality.

I was originally hired to assist with the company's MRP system on a temporary contract. However, my role was quickly expanded to include all IT matters and my contract extended. I worked on managing company software as well as developing support applications for their MRP system.

Tasmania Outdoors.Com was founded by myself with a partner and operated on nine strategic business units. It successfully forged active strategic alliances with over thirty companies both within Tasmania and overseas. In conjunction with its joint venture partner, Adventures Unlimited, Tasmania Outdoors offered full inbound travel services to tourists through its website. These services included advanced Web-based Systems custom designed for the Tasmanian market. As managing director, I personally wrote the company business plan, prepared all financial forecasts and analyses, fostered strategic alliances, negotiated company contracts and developed administration and accounting procedures. In addition to the business management aspect of my roles, I also designed, developed and implemented the custom web applications that drove the business model. These applications included a full e-commerce booking system.

In 2004 I was employed by the International Languages department of TAFE Tasmania to redevelop their student database. This redevelopment was to enable the department to comply with government reporting regulations.

During 2003 I was employed by the Tasmanian Department of Education to teach Computing at Kingston High School for their second semester. I was in charge of the computing department during this time and was responsible for all subject matter for Grade 9 and 10 computing classes. Kingston High School’s final assessment of my work rated me as an “above average teacher.” This is a high rating for fully qualified and experienced teachers. A copy of this report is available.
