I spent two years getting a solid background in patient care at small community teaching osteopathic hospital. Where I worked for a few months on med/surg. units. Once I had mastered basic patient care. I started working on advanced step down unit. That unit received the overflow from a small ICU. That step down cared for pt.'s that would have been in ICU's in other hospitals. I transitioned to the ICU at that hospital before leaving the hospital after two year. I then worked in a 770 bed hospital on the east side of Detroit. I worked there for two years in the CVICU. I left that hospital after 18 months to work as critical care agency nurse. I worked for seven years as an agency nurse in the Detroit area. Where I worked in numerous hospitals in Detroit and the surrounding suburbs. I worked in MICU, CVICU, CICU, Neuro ICU, Pulmonary ICU, psychiatric holding, and many ER's. That lead me back to large 770 bed hospital where I worked as an in house pool nurse working in the ER for two years. At that point I changed my status to staff RN in the ER. Where I remained until I left to follow my wife to her residency in Virginia. We stayed in Virginia for year. At the end of the we again returned to Detroit for her to work a specialty in neurology and sleep disorders. While she finished he medical training I became a house husband who did research for my while for her studies. When she finished we set up a neurology practice in northern Michigan. I manage the practice and do the coding as well as soon doctors office nursing.
