Pacific Whale Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 1980 to protect the ocean through science and advocacy, and to inspire environmental stewardship. PacWhale Eco-Adventures offers ocean ecotours that support the organization's research, education, and conservation programs. I work as a team member on eco-tour vessels that include a variety of snorkel trips, sunset sails, and dinner cruises.

2018 Season Accomplishments: -Completion of Oregon State Parks C.O.R.E. interpretation certification and training in June.-Individually delivered over 250 interpretive program events, totaling over 5,000 participants in 2.5 month time-frame at Beverly Beach State Park. -Participated in outreach at the Oregon Coast Aquarium representing Oregon State Parks. -Performed interpretive outreach utilizing OPRD displays and brochures at Yaquina Bay State Park during high visitor use times.-Worked directly with volunteers, assisting in the operation of the Spencer Creek Welcome Center various times at Beverly Beach State Park. -Assisted in operation of the Whale Watch Spoken Here program for the 2018-2019 session, greeting and orienting volunteers during training at the Hatfield Marine Science Center. -Worked alongside staff and volunteers each day at the Depoe Bay Whale Watching Center during the 2018 winter migration event in December. Oregon State Parks and Recreation Department's mission statement; "...To provide and protect outstanding natural, scenic, cultural, historic and recreational sites for the enjoyment and education of present and future generations." • Ranger Assistant at Ecola State Park on the Northern Oregon Coast (9 miles of beaches, historical, and cultural sites, unique coastal ecosystem, natural areas with hiking trails, spectacular viewing of the pacific ocean, Tillamook Rock Lighthouse, Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge, Ecola Point, and Tillamook Head). • Entrance booth operations; registered hundreds of guests in vehicles for day use (average 150-350+ transactions) in short time frames of (2-5 hours). Revenue/cash handling and reconciliation, distribution of controlled items (multi-day, annual, bi-annual passes), completing end of shift reports.• Roving natural area and wildlife interpretation. • Providing information to the public regarding; local/general coastal area attractions, other state parks parks on the Oregon coast, information regarding travel and camping on the Oregon coast. • Openly answering questions from the public with a calm, composed, and professional demeanor. • Facilities and trail maintenance; marine debris removal from beaches/dunes/rocky shoreline, waste handling and litter removal from parking areas, trails, removal of downed trees across trails and park roads with hand and power tools as directed. Inspected; buildings, electrical, sewage, and water systems, assisted with repairs as necessary. Landscape activities: planting/pruning perennials and annuals, mowing grass lawns, clearing railings, trails, signage, and roadways from vegetation obstacles.

-Environmental non-profit organization that advocates for protection and preservation of natural areas, ecosystems, and wildlife throughout the state of Oregon. -Canvassing door to door throughout neighborhoods in the Portland, Oregon area campaigning to protect national forest lands surrounding Crater Lake National Park. -Educating/informing members of the public about national forest lands surrounding Crater Lake National Park that lack protection under the Wilderness Act of 1964. Encouraging dialogue with state legislature and general awareness of natural resource extraction threats to old growth forested areas (Umpqua National Forest, Klamath National Forest, Rouge River/Siskiyou National Forest Lands). -Fundraising, signing-up new members, membership renewals, money handling, tablet operation (operating tablet canvassing software with Environment Oregon Application)

Nehalem Bay State Park is situated on a sand spit dividing the pacific ocean and Nehalem bay. I assisted with facilities maintenance, and general operations of the park during the summer of 2016. -Front Entrance Booth/Operations: o Cash register operation/money handling, o Check in/register guests for camping. o Selling/issuing annual and two year Oregon state park passes, bicycle helmets, ice, firewood, park guides. o Providing information via phone or in person to general public pertaining to additional camping in the northern Oregon coastal area, issuing a variety of brochures about local areas.-Facilities Maintenance/Other tasks:o Maintaining 6 bathroom facilities throughout campgrounds and day use areas, o Checking boat launch dock safety, checking parking passes, issuing park rules and compliance requests.o Emptying fee collection tubes, checking airport camping area, trash/litter removal from all areas in park. o Basic plumbing repairs on sinks, pipes, toilets. o Basic electrical repairs

Loon Lake Recreation Area, Reedsport, Oregon, Usa

Loon Lake is a recreation area managed by the BLM near Reedsport, Oregon. There is a primary recreation site as well as an East Shore recreation area. I interned as a GS-5 equivalent Park Ranger, serving for 16 weeks. I completed this internship through the American Conservation Experience’s (ACE) Emerging Professional Intern Corps (EPIC) program. Visitor Services:o In uniform representing the Bureau of Land Management providing assistance to all guests and day-users at the sites.o Informing the public of the site's rules and guidelines in a friendly and positive manner. o Emergency Response for individuals in the campgrounds, day use area, and on the lake. o Cleaning up litter/trash campgrounds, day use areas, and nature trails at the sites. o Assistance with educational evening interpretive programs. o Mitigating conflicts and notifying Law Enforcement Officers if problems at sites occur.o Putting out unattended fires at campsitesMaintenance duties:o Weed whacking campsite areas and around all posted signs, mowing grass.o Cleaning and maintaining cleanliness of all bathrooms located at the sites.o Maintaining and repairing signage throughout the campsites, repairing fences. o Trimming branches that are in front of signs or that are hazardous to vehicles on roadways.o Invasive species removal (Himalayan Blackberry). o Successfully organized and complied 9 Material Safety Data Sheet binders (1 for each building on site) and double-checked all building hazardous items prior to an entire audit in July 2015 of the facilities.

3 National Historic Sites In Hyde Park, New York, Usa.

-I worked alongside a professional landscaping team during the summer between my junior and senior year at Eckerd College with the roads and grounds crew division of the National Parks Service. -The site locations were at the historic Springwood home and estate, home of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32rd president of the United States (and only 4 term president), the Val-kill estate which was the home to First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, Stone Cottage located at Val-kill, as well as a Vanderbilt Mansion and property on the Hudson River that is owned and managed by the National Parks Service. -The crew had a set schedule for each day of the week, activities included but were not limited to; mowing vast and expansive lawns at the various sites, weed whacking at the sites, building and repairing rock walls, removing any trash at the sites, painting buildings and fire hydrants, concrete repairs and patch-work, removal of fallen tree branches in roadways and around buildings, operating a stump grinder, operating wood a wood chipper, and cleaning parking lots of any trash items or excessive gravel build-up.
