About Robert Brown
I received my masters degree from Michigan Technological University, after performing research in the field of glycobiology in the Laboratory of Mechanistic Glycobiology and successfully defended my master’s thesis titled “Purification and Carbohydrate Binding Properties of Two New Plant Proteins”. I have worked collaboratively with others on publications in scientific journals, as well as on my own to develop a thesis. My teaching experiences as a graduate student helped me to realize that I have a passion not only for learning, but also for sharing my knowledge with others. I have a strong passion for cancer research. I have experience with protein purification, and protein characterization. I have experience with commonly used protein purification techniques, as well as isothermal titration microcalorimetry, electrophoresis, spectrophotometry, microscopy, and several biological assays. I am also experienced in DNA and RNA extraction. I am interested in characterizing and searching for new biologically relevant molecules.I have worked at Epredia (formerly ThermoFisher Scientific) since summer of 2015, and have spent time as a quality chemist, as well as a research scientist. My current role at Epredia is Sustaining Product Engineer, a position designed to hybridize the roles of research and quality to ensure consistency and quality of product engineering at the site. I am responsible for product specifications, chemical raw material validations, product stability, and am actively involved in continuously improving product quality, delivery, and cost savings.
Listed skills include Data Analysis, R&D, Project Management, Oracle, and 69 others.

Quality Chemist
Perform testing on manufactured products including incoming raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods. Assays include pH, water content (Karl Fischer titration), UV-Vis, Gas Chromatography, formaldehyde titration, viscosity, refractive index, and other routine chemical tests. Document results with accuracy and adhere to current good manufacturing practices and documentation (cGMP, cGDP). Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, and R&D colleagues to trouble-shoot issues and to improve processes. Partner with colleagues to assist with new instrument verification and validation, write work instructions / standard operating procedures, and develop and validate new testing assays. Work with colleagues in R&D, Regulatory, Marketing, and Manufacturing to review new raw materials, review product formulations, and adjust product formulations when necessary.Led PPI Kaizen event in January 2018 that resulted in a 73% time reduction for a critical quality function.
