I came to St Peter's after a brief time as a Locum Physiologist at St George's NHS trust. St Peter's is a DGH with a large catchment area of patients. There is a fantastically local feel to the department and the patients. The challenge of a department that is gradually trying to modernise and develop their staff is fantastic to be part of. My love of EP has had to be slightly curbed as due to the. lockdown there are fewer cases. This has happily enforced and renewed my love of complex devices. I have been solo running the majority of complex device clinics and this has allowed me to deal with large numbers of patients. The ever present concern of Covid 19 has meant that there is a huge onus on PPE and infection control and this creates a challenge to communicate and make patients comfortable. I was the South and Midlands (SMIDS) education manager with the EP/HF division. Prior to C-19 this role would have involved, arranging and delivering internal and external regional and national training on the Ensite Precision system and the EP equipment. Due to the unprecedented changes in work practices and case support the role became significantly challenging and prevented me from exploring and developing the role and my own personal skills. I found my unable to be involved in any cases and give input into the job and speciality I love and took me away from the NHS, at a time of great need.

I have made the move to seek more flexible work patterns and am currently a Locum Cardiac Physiologist at the internationally renouned and hugely dynamic Imperial College NHS trust at Hammersmith Hospital. I left Harefield after devoting 5 incredible years of my life to the wonder patients, staff and service. When I moved to Harefield, I was already a very experienced Cardiac Physiologist, having already worked at 2 internationally renowned specialist centres. I went to Harefield to lead an EP service, that along with the Brompton, is the busiest EP service in the country. I am highly specialised in CRM as well as hugely experienced in all other aspects of Cardiology. When joining Harefield I had a plan that I could develop the role of the Cardiac Physiologist , and with the support of Dr's Markides, Wong, Hussain and Jones I became the first cardiac physiologist in the country to be trained in invasive procedures. To date I have an extensive professional log book of hundreds of venous femoral punctures, right-sided catheter studies, and over 300 separate transeptal punctures. I have also collected LA geometries using Carto and mapped complex arrhythmias. My experience in the EP environment has allowed me to develop strong Trans Oesophageal Echo (TOE) skills. I lead the department for 6 months but found that my strongest skills were clinical and educational not middle management. My interpersonal skills are, in my opinion, are one of my greatest strengths. I am often asked to speak and help very anxious patients as I quickly build trust and rapport with everyone.
