Hello! My name is Luke Ferguson. I am currently a senior at Western Kentucky University studying Meteorology, with a certificate in Geographic Information Systems. I have been fortunate enough to be granted numerous opportunities to over the years further my understanding of meteorology through field work. I have participated in White Squirrel Weather for credit hours at Western Kentucky University for the past three years, where I have provided remote and in person forecasting/decision support for various high profile private events such as The Chicago Marathon, The Shamrock Shuffle, the Cherry Blossom Festival, and multiple events for Division I collegiate athletics. I currently hold the position of President for WKU's award winning AMS/NWA Student Chapter (Student Chapter of the Year - 2022). During the summer of 2023, I was lucky enough to attend the Undergraduate Leadership Workshop hosted by NCAR in Boulder, CO. This was a wonderful opportunity that was imperative in preparing me to be the leader I wish to be. I was also one of two students selected to be a Student Volunteer at the National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Forecasting Office (WFO) in Charleston, WV (RLX). It was here I gained invaluable knowledge in the software used by the NWS, the many products put out by individual offices, severe weather operations in an office, shift work, etc.. This experience was incredible, and I cannot express how wonderful of a job the team at RLX did over the summer. I am always looking to expand my knowledge and experience in the field of meteorology, and I feel as though I am never done learning!
