Robert, while officially retired from the "work world" that is the heart of LinkedIn, is unable to stay away from the rideshare gig. Now that he is officially “cured” of Lymphoma cancer, he is out once again most mornings adding to the some 14,000 rides he has delivered.He is in addition, a voracious lurker and observer of it all things tech from the sidelines. He invites members of his cohort and former work colleagues (especially DEC and IDC), to be in contact. Coffee, walks, catching up on the past, interpreting the present and prognosticating the future are always welcome conversations.His focus is ever more specific but fulfilling. First and foremost Robert is focused on his personal health and fitness. Walking, exercise are the physical core to expanding from a rather long intellectual, analytical, but ultimately stationary life along with attention to a reduced sugar and carb diet. Seven nearby grandchildren are providing ample opportunity to be influenced by and engaged with the next generation. His analysis skills are applied to directly managing his retirement investment portfolio. Especially engaging is the DNA / Immunotherapy world, of which Boston is arguably the global leader. His "Uber" interviews with pickups and drop-offs in the Kendall Square are have provided investing insights, and the basis for a small speculative portfolio. When not choosing individual securities, Robert is a fan of ARK Funds.Finally, in the Summer, he applies his creative skills to solutions for keeping the "varmints" of woodchucks, opossums, chipmunks and rabbits separated from the strawberries and vegetables of the garden.When health and weather facilities support, and when not driving rideshare, you will find Robert out cruising Boston and Newton's streets in his retractable hardtop Lexus SC430 convertible - top down, another old-guy out just for the fun of it!
