CurrentManage● Manage one direct report and coordinate two functional teams: a surgical training team (3 trainers) and a behavior operator training team (2 trainers).● Support hiring, onboarding, and expectation-setting for new employees.● Developed and implemented a technical assessment period to set expectations and improve data quality from new surgeons.● Run the institute's aseptic training program, training over 100+ surgeons on essential practices.Training● Serve as the subject matter expert on mouse neurosurgery, including the development and design of new surgical techniques to meet evolving research needs.● Designed and optimized surgical training protocols, successfully training 53 new surgeons across multiple procedures.● Led a team to standardize training for behavior operators, achieving successful training for 6 operators across departments..● Created SOP's and reference materials for surgeons to troubleshoot equipment and surgery issues.Tracking● Developed a SharePoint database to track 300+ fields per procedure, enhancing data accessibility.● Built Excel and Power BI dashboards for monitoring individual and team training progress.● Established metrics to evaluate the progress of new surgeons throughout their training.● Collaborated with a multi-department team to transition data management from SharePoint to SLIMS, enhancing data accessibility and integration across departments.Technical● Developed and implemented new aseptic, stereotaxic neurosurgery techniques on mice, including head-post placements, craniotomies, durotomies, and stereotaxic injections of viral vectors, in accordance with IACUC protocols.● Trained water-restricted mice in a visual change-detection task for 2-photon calcium imaging studies.
