Working across the Wessex Clinical Research Network and Wessex AHSN in MedTech and healthcare innovation. A particular focus on early stage innovations and supporting innovators in gaining the evidence and funding they need to bring their technologies into the NHS, from value propositions and grant writing to supporting companies in developing and delivering their clinical trials.Board member of the SIGHT project.

Wessex

Wessex Clinical Research Network lead on the rapid setup and equipping of the clinical trial sites for the COVID vaccine trials. Working with diverse regional stakeholders in a rapid and dynamic manner to deliver the needed locations to successfully deliver the trials. These sites have now evolved to support wider clinical trials across the region as a COVID legacy.

Southampton

As an innovative researcher at the University of Southampton I worked in collaboration with industrial partners to develop novel solutions for biofilm challenges. This role included experimental design, securing ethical approval and advanced microbiological techniques. I also support undergraduate and postgraduate students in their studies, guiding their research and writing. Within this role wrote grant and funding applications including leading on two National Biofilm Innovation Centre proof of concept grants in addition to contributing towards a successful BBSRC FTMA2 bid.

Research focused on the parallel evolution of S. pneumoniae within biofilms to facilitate improved targeting of more virulent sub populations by vaccines. This project included identification of mutants, biofilm culture, genetic construct design, generation of gene knock outs, a wide variety of phenotypic assays, and the testing of antibiotics, and antimicrobials.

Begbroke Science Park, Oxford, Uk

Managing and training staff, while running a laboratory in accordance with GLP, and GMP including ISO9001 and ISO14001. I designed, commissioned, and maintained bacterial bioreactors at both laboratory, and industrial scale. Research within this role focused on bacterial sequencing and community composition, quorum sensing, molecular imprinting, and biofilm metal accumulation.
