Assistant Superintendent and Chief Financial Officer. Administered a $140 million dollar operation and directed all facets of the financial management systems for the division of business affairs. Major functions included budgeting, accounting, finance, and supervision of four division directors: plant services, information systems, child nutrition, and transportation.

Business Manager/CFO for a Texas school district. Responsible for budgeting, accounting, and financial operations, including financial forecasts and strategic planning. Additional responsibilities included coordination and administration of school board and bond elections, property and health insurance programs, and supervision of the director of child nutrition operations.

Flight Engineer on the Lockheed C-130 Hercules four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft. Served as the systems expert with extensive mechanical and technical knowledge of aircraft systems and aircraft performance, and diagnostician and problem-solver when emergencies arose. Set and monitored systems such as fuel, pressurization and air conditioning, hydraulic, electrics, ice and rain protection, oxygen, fire and overheat protection, and powered flying controls, as well as preflight and postflight aircraft inspections, and ensured correct weight and balance calculations within center of gravity limits. Set and adjusted specific power engine settings during take-off, climb, cruise, go-arounds, and monitored aircraft flight path, speed, and altitude.

Formed, owned and operated a business partnership that rented airplanes and provided flight training to students, faculty and staff enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin (UT) who were members of the University Flying Club (UFC), and included training for student, private, commercial pilot licenses, and instrument rating. Formed the UFC and served as Vice-President while attending UT in the 70’s. The UFC is unrelated to the original Longhorn Flying Club which was formed in 1956 and later disbanded. The UFC has continued its mission of providing one of the most affordable means for people to learn to fly.
