As a Professor of Geology and Geotechnology at Mt. San Antonio College, my goal is to inspire students to learn by exploring the natural world and its processes. Privately, I own and operate Leeper Aerial, a small business that provides site-specific landscape data using small Unmanned Aircraft Systems. I am a certified FAA Part 107 remote pilot, with photogrammetry and point cloud skills in imagery processing, change detection, topographic surveys, and landscape analysis.Before becoming a professor and an entrepreneur, I worked as a geologist for the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and Haley & Aldrich, Inc. While with the USGS, I conducted research on earthquakes, tsunamis, debris flows, and flash floods. I contributed to several publications and reports that documented the evidence, timing, and impact of these hazards on the environment and society. I also helped advance a method to measure the occurrence of post-wildfire debris flows and flash floods triggered by intense rainfall events using various types of field monitoring techniques.
