I was responsible for minors during their first three days in lock up at Central Juvenile Hall. During this time, I was responsible for the implementation of the Pathways to Excellence Program in the maximum security unit school at Ventura County Juvenile Hall. The program had unique challenges as I was the only teacher with four classrooms to cover simultaneously. Fueled by their belief in positive change, and hope for the future, the students.

I was responsible for transitioning the school in this medium security detention facility from a workbook based program to a traditional model with a unique curriculum. Classes included Constitutional Law; Psychology; Commercial Law as well as traditional high school classes.

During my time as a correctional staff at Colston, I implemented a Pathways to Excellence program which had over 50% of the facility doing voluntary physical training several time per week before the morning schedule began.
