The site employees 180+ people and operates as the gateway in and out of Europe for the UK road network. Manage and motivate a staff of 180 in the unloading of an average of 130 trailers and loading of an average of 120 trailers daily. Ensuring site keeps to HM Customs & Excise regulations. Personally responsible for 5 first line managers but managing a total of 14 first line managers. Planning and organising a 24 hour warehouse and office operation maintaining best performance and standards. Keeping to key performance indicators and to depot budget. Ensuring the first line management team maintain training and all H & S issues for their team members. Directing continuous improvement team to look at working policies and systems to identify better working practices. Recruiting and selecting new members of staff. Monitor disciplinary matters within operation taking personal responsibility for dismissal process. Dealing with repairs and maintenance to warehouse and all mechanical handling equipment.
