Chemical Process Research and Development:> Routinely developed scalable processes to deliver multiple kilograms of penultimate intermediates and drug substances> Worked with CROs and engineering to transfer a batch hydrogenation to a continuous flow process> Worked closely with formulations and AD/VQC during process development on penultimate intermediates and drug substances> Routinely contributed to writing drug development reports following kilo-lab campaigns> Conceptualized and developed new routes-of-synthesis (ROS) for drug substances in pre-clinical development which involved leading other researchers day to day activities> Identifying fit-for-purpose routes while simultaneously developing suitable long-term processes> Structural determination of impurities to identify problems and optimize through impurity minimization> Developed multiple new processes for the synthesis of deuterated drug substances> Regularly worked with engineers for reaction hazard evaluation to assess process scale-up safety> Volunteer member of HAZWOPER Team (24 hr technician level training) for response to hazardous situations and spill clean-up

My doctoral research with Professor Joseph Fox involved: - Enantioselective synthesis of complex cyclobutanes via Rh(II)-catalyzed reactions of readily accessible α-cinnamyl-α-diazoesters - Application of this methodology to the total synthesis of natural products exhibiting unique bioactivities - Development of unique ring expansion reactions of appropriately substituted cyclobutanes. This allows synthesis of 4-, 5-, and 6-membered rings from a single molecular scaffold
