Teacher
CurrentDuring my time teaching at TCHS, I have helped build the engineering and welding programs into outstanding examples of how Career and Technical Education can be a tremendous launch pad for high school students. In 2018 I started the Titan Engineering & Technology Academy which combines math, science, engineering, computer science, manufacturing and robotics into a four year program that prepares students for careers in related fields. Along with many cross curricular projects, the students tour colleges, go on job shadowing trips, visit industry partners, have internship opportunities and end their studies with a comprehensive senior design project. While in the academy, students earn college credit in their engineering courses, earn professional certifications and put together a complete portfolio to showcase their studies and projects.Along with founding and directing the academy, I also am tasked with seeking out, applying for and managing state, federal and private grants which aid in the operations of the academy as well as fund new equipment purchases so that our students are being trained on industry standard machines. As part of the engineering program, I have developed projects and curriculum in SolidWorks CAD design, MasterCAM CNC programming, CNC milling machine setup and operations, water jet cutting set up and operations, precision inspection techniques, metallurgy, manufacturing engineering, career readiness, and a broad range of other engineering principles.
