CurrentRobert Sampson is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Michigan Aerospace Corporation. Before becoming COO, Dr. Sampson served as President of I-Technology Applications for ten years. Prior to that, he managed the Electro-Optics Systems and Algorithm Development Laboratory at ERIM where he worked on several major military electro-optic projects. Dr. Sampson has over thirty years experience in managing sensor development programs and information processing algorithms. Dr. Sampson has a broad knowledge of ultraviolet, visible, and infrared imaging systems and target detection algorithms and their applications to military and commercial problems. He has taught both the fundamentals and advanced infrared courses at the University of Michigan. He has served as Chairman of the SPIE Conference on Infrared Detectors and Focal Plane Arrays for the Technical Symposium on Aerospace Sensing for over fifteen years. He received his PhD from the University of Michigan in Mechanical Engineering in 1972.
