Provided oversight for the recovery of training programs using the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT), implementing the Vision database. ATR Programs Training was successfully released from probation.Mentored the training staff regarding the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of training using a SAT based approach.Developed, implemented and coached the use of Training Advisory Groups, resulting in a mature and self-sustaining program.Provided high quality training of practical and theoretical concepts to operations personnel and engineering personnel in a classroom and simulator setting with excellent feedback.Drove operations to adopt more disciplined operating standards with the application of human performance tools, operator fundamentals, and ownership of performance. I lead by example. In 2006, the ATR experienced several human error based scrams per year. The ATR has had zero human error based scrams since 2009.Developed and implemented an Operating Experience/Lessons Learned/Knowledge Retention database and program. The program is currently maturing into a functional program.Current effort is coaching the application of behavior-based observations in training, causal analysis and day-to-day operations.

Clinton Power Station, Clinton Illinois

Senior Reactor Operator Certified at Clinton Power Station, a GE BWR-6, Boiling Water Reactor.Provided project management for all phases of projects including budgeting, design, hiring, oversight and contract administration. Demonstrated fiscal accountability and creativity by completing a managed task project consisting of training materials upgrade at 12% under budget and ~$1.1M less than the fixed price bids. Projects consistently completed on time and on budget due to strategic planning, thorough job scoping and contingency planning. Supervised and performed training of Initial NRC License candidates for all phases of license training. Received excellent reviews from peers, line management and students. Point-of-contact with the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) for re-accreditation of our training program due to technical knowledge and well developed interpersonal skills. Clinton training programs were released from probation.Elected class lead by my peers in the Exelon Supervisor Leadership Program.Responsible for the development, procurement and execution of ~$500k annual project budget. Work Control Center SRO and Field Supervisor during plant outages.

Braidwood Station, Braidwood Illinois

Senior Reactor Operator Certified at Braidwood Nuclear Station, a Westinghouse 4-loop Pressurized Water Reactor. Conducted all phases of training for Initial Licensing candidates at Braidwood Station using both General Physics and Westinghouse based training programs. I brought enthusiasm and creativity to my training, resulting in excellent trainee participation and success. Volunteered for transfer to Clinton Power Station for additional responsibility and experience during their training program rebuild and re-accreditation.

Illinois

Provided cost-effective troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical systems from low voltage DC controls to 34.5 KV distribution systems. I captured lessons-learned and used this to train operations and maintenance in fundamental diagnostic skills. I solved many problems using innovative and creative solutions, minimizing equipment and plant downtime. Provided significant savings by handling a majority of environmental permitting issues and annual emissions reports in-house. I prevented a costly site shutdown by use of my writing skills and chemistry knowledge in a technical report on high volatile organic carbons in our emissions. My theories in combination with planned corrective actions were successfully communicated to all levels in the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. My failure analysis report and legal testimony were instrumental to successful litigation against a vendor for improper assembly techniques resulting in catastrophic failure of a 13,850 cubic inch, internal combustion engine.

Responsible for initial commissioning, acceptance testing, manning and day-to-day operations and maintenance of 9 generating stations. I led from the front, earning confidence and loyalty from my operators, maintenance personnel and peers. Established good working relationships with vendors and crafts, setting up parts and service supply chains for Illinois. This allowed preferential provision of parts, equipment and supplies during emergent needs, saved money and provided a source of future employees.Performed public relations duties including Due Diligence inspections, reports and tours with the general public, lenders and political groups, ensuring a continuing source of funding during challenging conditions.

Illinois

Managed construction of 3 generating stations from groundbreaking to successful connection to the electrical grid. This required detailed planning, coordination and continuous multi-tasking with employees, regulators, vendors, equipment suppliers, contractors and utilities. Interfaced with the public at all levels, including various City, County and State offices for construction permitting, zoning, environmental permitting, road construction, etc. Creatively attached a request for help with a road-cutting permit to the bid specification for a gas pipeline. This allowed securing of the permit and completion of the gas pipeline on schedule.

Santa Clara, California

Operated a Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell R&D project from balance of plant commissioning to the end of life. Started as outside operator, transferred to Control Room Operator within 2 months and promoted to Lead Control Room Operator within 6 months due to demonstrated knowledge and ability. Provided data analysis of specialized tests, operations personnel supervision and procedure development for normal operations, testing operations and casualty operations. My casualty procedures prevented significant damage from occurring to the sensitive fuel cell stacks during the major west-cost power outage in late summer of 1996.
