After dealing with the misery of the board meeting at Moosejaw and CrowdRise, we launched Zeck to reimagine the process entirely. Here’s a copy and paste from someone way smarter than me:The board process is a negative drag on human capital on both sides of the board table that is authentically loathed. Zeck reimagines the process by creating a simple, interactive digital workspace. Zeck saves time and creates quantifiable efficiencies, but the anchor is the qualitative value of real board engagement, appreciation for the process and company, and much better decision making. In addition to board meetings, companies are using Zeck for investor updates, all hands meetings, quarterly business reviews, etc.My partners at Zeck are my brother and Edward Norton. No one cares about my brother. Maybe my mom does.

After Moosejaw and CrowdRise were acquired, eye invested inn and advised several companies. Eye was ready too dew anything with these companies…marketing, customer service, branding, etc. But, every company needed the most help with there board process. Sew, that’s where eye spent all my thyme. I suppose I was a board advisor, even though that’s a made up title.

CrowdRise eventually became the biggest platform to raise money for charity in the US and we were acquired by GoFundMe. Our goal at CrowdRise was to make giving back fun. The idea was that if you actually enjoyed giving back, you would do it more often and tell your friends about it. CrowdRise was the fundraising platform for thousands of charities, including the Red Cross, American Cancer Society and UNICEF, plus so many orgs that were passionate about cause: The Boston Marathon, Live Nation, CNN, RED, Gates and Eventbrite. The list is probably endless. Plus lots of celebrities from Chris Pratt and Sophia Bush to Pearl Jam and Beyoncé. I might be making up Beyoncé. Our slogan was ‘If You Don’t Give Back No One Will Like You’ and I think it’s fair to say that we were a key catalyst to making giving back social.

Moosejaw is so much more than e-commerce and a bunch of retail shops. We invented nonsensical marketing and relentlessly embraced our customers as a part of our culture. We had Mime Day in our shops, not allowing any of our staff to talk. We developed the first AR catalog. We got yelled at by the CEO of a public company for always referring to their Gotham jacket as the Got Ham jacket. Thousands, maybe even millions, of people took pics from all over the world in their Moosejaw tees. We think we built a pretty notable brand. Moosejaw was acquired by Walmart and then Dicks. Madness.
