About Robert W.
My passion for cooking began as a child spending time with my mother in the kitchen. When my sisters and brothers were outside playing, I remember working with my mother in the kitchen preparing dinner for their family of 6. The dinner table was where everyone met, where stories and tales of the day were shared with the entire family.Early into my career, I accepted a position with Celebrity Chef Neil Connolly at the highly acclaimed ‘Doc’s Restaurant’ in Orlando, FL. Over the next 4 years, I had the opportunity to work closely with Chef Neil in every aspect of the kitchen, ultimately wearing the title of Executive Chef for the property. After my time at Doc’s, I went on to ‘Harmoni Market’ to work between their College Park and Longwood locations inspiring new additions to their Mediterranean focused menu.In 2009. along with my wife Lindsay, we opened ‘The Boathouse’ restaurant in Winter Park. Our menu featured Southern Inspired American favorites. Along with my wife, I was happy to be creating some great soul-inspired fare while using fresh ingredients and cooking everything from scratch.In 2011, I was honored when Chef Norman Van Aken offered me a Sous Chef position at Norman’s Orlando. My background and training influenced and inspired the menu by adding a bit of my “southern” background to an already diverse menu. I greatly appreciated the opportunity to contributing my love of Southern flavors to the New World Cuisine that makes NORMAN’S such a diverse place to dine.In 2013, I accepted a Restaurant Sous Chef position at the high acclaimed Grand Bohemian Hotel located in downtown Orlando. In my time at the Bohemian Hotel, I have worked closely with Executive Chef Laurent Hollaender to create a robust dynamic menu to reflect the Bohemian nature of the inspiring property. I have been responsible for the Boheme Restaurant Culinary management as well as overseeing the culinary operations that support their 10,000 sq ft of banquet space.
