About Robert Werner

Since 2006, I have had the honor of being an English teacher and coach, and since 2013, I've worked in the college counseling field, as well. I have experience teaching in the Connecticut public school & adult education worlds, at a public charter school in Baltimore, at the collegiate level, and most recently in the private school sector (day and boarding) since 2011. I currently reside and work at Avon Old Farms School where I teach two sections of English, advise students, have an advisee load of 30+ students as the Associate Director of College Counseling, help to run a 40+ student dorm, coach two out of the three seasons, and perform other residential and professional duties throughout the school year. With a B.S. & M.A. in English (British Literature) from Southern Connecticut State University, along with a Professional Teaching Certification (7-12) in Connecticut, I am seeking to continue my postgraduate education as a Ph.D. candidate in English. The institutions for which I have worked have provided endless professional development opportunities to further my cultural and professional well-being through workshops, conferences, domestic & international travel, and various in-house administrative opportunities. I have completed various professional projects, received two grants for school-related work, and continue to seek out additional work to grow professionally. I am also a part-time employee at Thomas Hooker Brewery working on the Events Team as a Lead Bartender at the Bloomfield taproom & store, focusing on in-house events, providing guided tours of the facility, promoting the company, and products, and working off-site events throughout the year.Additionally, my wife, Nicole, and I have three beautiful boys: Vincent, Vito, & Lorenzo.
