ROBERTA ANDERSON, DNP, RN-BC, Clinical Program Director for Nursing for the Department of Radiation Oncology and Molecular Sciences at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Served as the co-leader for the Patient and Family Advisory Council at the SKCCC. Worked as a clinical instructor for the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and the University of Maryland School of Nursing. Has over 25 years of nursing experience, devoting many years to patients suffering from mental illness. Has a long-standing interest in organizational change to improve patient outcomes, processes, and systems. Routinely presents at the Leadership Academy for the Johns Hopkins Nursing Institute and has presented at numerous conferences and workshops helping healthcare leaders around the world through organizational change and transition. Has a special interest in the wellness of patients, caregivers, and staff. Was the lead investigator for a Hopkins pilot study examining the use and impact of yoga on stress levels in nursing staff. The study was published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, receiving recognition from the Pura Action non-profit organization and an invitation to present her study at a research conference at the Harvard Medical School. The wellness work continued while completing a doctoral project as the principal investigator focusing on educating nurses about the benefits of physical activity in patients diagnosed with cancer. The goal of the project is to improve the quality of life and functioning in patients diagnosed with cancer. Was invited to be a podium speaker at the 43rdONS Congress in Washington DC regarding the work in "Using Declining Patient Condition Simulations in the Outpatient Radiation Oncology Setting to Improve Clinician Comfort Level."
