I am serving as a Leadership Coach with @Braven at@Northern Illinois University this semester. The mission of Braven is to empower promising,underrepresented young people — first generation college students, students fromlow-income backgrounds, and students of color — with the skills, confidence,experiences, and networks necessary to transition from college to strong first jobs.

Accomplished Sales, Sales Management and Sales Training professional for Healthcare division of Fortune 100 corporation based in Roswell, GA.Started as Account Manager selling disposable surgical supplies to hospitals in the Chicago area. Developed into a top sales performer and won several sales contests.Promoted to Regional Sales Trainer, responsible for the training and professional development of sales professionals around the country.Promoted to District Sales Manager in the Midwest, responsible for $25,000,000 in sales and the development of eight veteran account managers. Extensive training and experience in leadership, management, human resources, sales and interpersonal communications. Although I learned a lot and experienced a bit of success, I never felt comfortable in the Fortune 100 environment...and left Kimberly-Clark on a high note in 1989 to seek an entrepreneurial path in commercial real estate.

Oneida was an incredible opportunity for me...I was hired to a high level sales position for a market leader in my first job fresh out of college. At the time, I was the youngest professional to be awarded the account executive position in history of company. I was calling on buyers at major regional department stores and negotiating big promotional deals with retail executives.Oneida was world's largest flatware manufacturer and dominated the table top industry. I went from fresh-faced rookie to grizzled sales veteran in about a year and a half. Developed an intense work ethic and ability to consistently achieve impressive financial results.Started by working out of the Chicago office for a year and then accepted a promotion to relocate to Cincinnati. Travelled out of town a majority of the time. Got to know Manhattan well.Left the company after refusing another promotion so that I could get married and move back home to Chicago.
