About Robert Brousseau

It’s no secret that Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technicians get to operate some pretty impressive equipment; it was at least part of the appeal for me when I joined. Yet, while every dog and pony show we support requests that we bring a bomb suit and a robot for guests to interact with, EOD technicians out in the field will readily tell you that our technological needs extend far past those two items.As a training and equipment manager responsible for designing training scenarios, evaluating technicians’ competence, and maintaining equipment both at home and in deployed locations, I’ve seen just how great EOD’s need for advanced technology is. I’ve seen firsthand what works and what doesn’t work in real-world contexts, how better equipment and more realistic training lead not only to increased performance but also to increased motivation, and how we still have considerable technological gaps to fill. While my active-duty career is ending, I’m eager to continue serving the EOD career field by filling those gaps. I look forward to working with a research and development team to design innovative equipment, train current techs on new procedures, and help solve the problems today’s EOD techs face.
