Since May 2023, Bob is the Chief Financial Officer of the Promise Fund, founded by Nancy Brinker, the sister of Susan G. Komen, and the founder of the Komen Foundation. Bob has spent the last 22 years serving not-for-profit industry having performed audits and advisory CFO services for community-based organizations, healthcare, foundations, performing arts, museums, private schools, societies, clubs and associations. He has extensive experience analyzing and advising NFP organizations with cash flow, financing and investing, financial reporting and board governance. Prior to returning to public accounting with Raffa, PC in 2003, from 1993, he served as Vice President of Finance for a software developer examining adverse outcomes and a government contractor, a pharmacy benefit manager and a venture capital fund. Bob has over 12 years’ experience with the Big 4, where he was responsible for the audits of many of Washington DC’s largest NFPs including Georgetown University Hospital and the Smithsonian Institun. Bob has made numerous presentations to Boards of Directors as well as an instructor on nonprofit financial statements, revenue recognition and accounting for investments and endowment funds. Bob graduated from George Washington University where he received his Bachelors in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting. He is a CPA, and is a member of the AICPA. He is a volunteer serves on the Board of Directors of the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, serves as Treasurer of Tzedek DC, a start-up NFP assisting DC residents with credit card and medical debt, and serves as the Chair of the Audit Committee Makom, a/k/a Jewish Foundation for Group Homes. From 2014 through 2021, he served as Chair of the Audit and Ethics committee and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of National Industries for the Blind.
