First things first, I am in love with sports. Growing up, I played hockey as well as baseball, and I was a volunteer goalie coach for a peewee hockey team. During high school, I paid more attention to sport leagues like the NHL, NBA, and MLB. As I watched the games and paid more attention to the news of those leagues, my love for sport grew. This was my calling to pursue a career in the sport industry. Today, I am an aspiring sport management professional with the mission of using the knowledge, skills, and lessons that I am learning about the sport industry to help sport organizations meet the needs and wants of their sport consumers’. I am passionate about hockey as well as baseball, and I am passionate about exercising. The common theme of my passions is that they are all related to sports and fitness. This is why I attended Humber’s three-year Sport Management program. In this program, I learned more about the Canadian sport industry every day.My work in the Humber Sport Management program is significant because it helped me learn as well as acquire the knowledge, lessons, and skills that are needed in order to become a successful sport management professional. The skills that I am continuing to grow include my time management skills, organizing skills, skills in coordinating work, and skills in establishing relationships. I acquired and gained an understanding of these lessons and skills in the Humber Sport Management program through keeping pace with course material, completing individual and group assignments, completing quizzes, and completing examinations. One of my accomplishments in this program includes making the Dean’s Honours List in all of the semesters I completed in the program. One of my core values is community. Community is what I believe will help reach my desired impact of helping sport organizations meet the needs and wants of their sport consumers’. Community is the feeling of companionship between a group of people who share the same goals and interests. When sport organizations create a community with their consumers’, they will know how to better meet their consumers’ needs and wants. Other values that are important to me include loyalty, responsibility, and learning.Presently, I am a Humber College Sport Management graduate open to work and volunteer opportunities in sport marketing and sales. I enjoy analysing what companies do to differentiate themselves to get that competitive edge over the competition. I also feel that marketing and sales is the best field for my creativity to flow.
