Skipton building society internally promoted me to a new role the society had just developed, this was the financial planning consultant role, as well as completing my usual branch tasks and branch appointments this now meant I was able to service our financial advice customers also.This meant I was able to complete a financial review for an investment customer giving information regarding their investment portfolio, information on their investment performance, risk type and any associated platform costs within their portfolio.This role gave me great knowledge around investment markets, portfolios and platforms within the investment area. It allowed me to service more customers and really help them with any financial advice needs whilst trying to identify any further needs outside of the financial review meeting.As part of this role, Skipton put me through qualifications to start me on my journey of becoming a financial advisor which is what the financial planning role was designed to help towards. Having passed both qualifications in insurance and savings meetings this truly allows me to let my personality come across in all of the meetings and ensuring the customer experience is exceptional. Having been a customer representative who booked appointments for the customer consultant I am now able to complete the whole customer journey, from booking in the customer and then myself completing the meeting which allows for a much smoother process. A customer consultant has to lead by example to demonstrate the correct and positive attitude to his fellow colleagues, this means as well as seeing booked appointments I also have to ensure I am self-generating my own leads. It is very important to gain the trust from the customer so you are able to explore all their options available to them.
