Being able to paint pictures with my words has always been a passion of mines. Sports has always been a part of my life since I could remember. Sports Knowledge always came easy to me, and I developed a deep love for basketball specifically. After high school I knew I wanted to combine my love for sports and HBCUs, so I began my collegiate journey at Central State University. I majored in Mass Communications while being a tour guide. After a year at the illustrious HBCU I transferred to Loyola University Chicago, which is where I developed my journalism skills and began to gain experience in Sports Journalism. I wanted to create something new and exciting for athletes. In 2016 I started 4th Quarter Sports Magazine to help athletes control their own narratives and give them an opportunity to be a part of something innovative. 4th Quarter Sports Magazine purpose is to shed light on athletes, HBCUs, women in sports, WNBA, and black owned businesses. Going by our motto, "Whether you are the 1st option, or the 15th option your story matters too." After three years at Loyola Chicago, I continued my education at Roosevelt University where I received my BA in Journalism & Media Studies. During my time at RU, I was the sports editor for the Torch Newspaper. Throughout my educational journey I developed a deep connection to my ability to tell stories. Loyola helped me become well versed in journalism by allowing me to develop skills in Sports Broadcasting, Digital Journalism, Print Journalism, Marketing, and Magazine and design. Every day I am growing and so is my skills. To the Shannon Sharpe, Stephen A. Smith, Cari Champion, Stuart Scott, and Michael Wilbon's thank you for paving the way for me and making a kid from the west side of Chicago fall in love with sports and make me believe that I can also showcase my love for sports as you do every day. I aim to be in a position where I can inspire the next generation the same way you have inspired me.
