Support development and manufacturing engineers in the design of mobile high speed wireless communications equipment for military and commercial use.

Performed assembly of prototype printed circuit boards that included both thu-hole and SMT type components from home. Have home office equipped with soldering stations, microscope and appropriate tools to assemble both thru-hole and SMT type PCB assemblies. Capable of hand soldering 0402 chip components and SMT type leaded components down to 0.5 mm lead pitch.

Responsible for the design, assembly and rework of complex multilayer prototype printed circuit boards. Performed both schematic capture and PCB layout using the P-CAD 2004 EDA tool. Also responsible for the procurement of lab supplies and components used in prototype builds and assisting engineers in the debug of prototype PCB assemblies.

Supported engineering activities that included prototyping, PCB design and documentation of biomedical diagnostic instruments for cancer disease management. Prototyping included PCB assembly, wiring and electrical / mechanical system level integration. Also participated in the development process and provided feedback regarding design for assembly and test. Used the following CAD tools with regards to PCB design: schematic capture / OrCAD V10.0, PCB layout / PADS 2004, PCB documentation / AutoCAD 2004. Assisted in the design and fabrication of test fixtures and procedures. Also procured lab supplies and components for prototype builds and assisted engineers in the debug of prototype PCB’s and instruments.

Worked with a custom ASIC design group where responsibilities included the design, prototyping and debug of printed circuit boards used in high-speed communication networks. Performed schematic capture, PCB design and the generation of integrated component libraries using the P-CAD EDA tools, along with the SPECCTRA ShapeBased Autorouter. PCB designs consisted of double-sided, impedance controlled, multilayer printed circuit boards utilizing predominately surface mount type components…BGA’s, QFP’s, SOIC’s, SOT’s, etc. Assembled and reworked prototype boards using a batch type reflow oven and hand soldering under a microscope. Also procured lab supplies and components for prototype builds and assisted engineers in the debug of prototype boards. Familiar with the use of general lab test equipment…oscilloscope, logic analyzer, DVM, etc.

Responsible for the design of single and double-sided, multilayer printed circuit boards that used both SMD and thru-hole type components for automatic Pick-n-Place SMT equipment used in the PCB assembly industry. The schematic capture and PCB layout tools used were P-CAD EDA and the SPECCTRA ShapeBased Autorouter. Also used AutoCAD V12 for the generation of the PCB fabrication and assembly drawings.

Responsible for maintaining a development lab for the design and prototyping of printed circuit boards used in communication networks for the ATM industry and also the supervision of PCB designers and lab technicians. Experienced in the design, hand assembly and rework of very dense SMD / thru-hole, single and double-sided, multilayer printed circuit boards. Accustomed to dealing with fine pitch IC’s such as a 240 pin PQFP with a 0.5 mm lead pitch and working under a microscope. Designed the boards and component footprint libraries using the Accel EDA tool and CCT SP10 Autorouter.

Assisted engineers in the development of computer systems for the process control industry by building, testing and debugging both digital and analog prototype circuits and systems. Performed experiments and collected data aimed at testing and evaluating electronic components and systems and assisted in the preparation of engineering documentation. Also did the purchasing and sample requests of small prototype builds. Previously worked in a Q.A. lab with Quality and Test Engineers where I constructed and maintained various electronic test systems that were used in the inspection and production areas. Also instructed other technicians in the building, testing, and maintenance of various computer driven systems and electronic assemblies.
