Responsibilities include:- To contribute to the day-to-day work of the treatment planning section, principally the computer planning of patients undergoing radiotherapy including both routine and complex treatments- To participate in the routine dosimetry and quality control programme on treatment machines and treatment simulators in the department- Assisting with Mould Room tasks- To fulfil the role of Operator as required by the Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposures) Regulations 2017- Prioritising and managing own work and that of the Treatment Planning section whilst in the facilitator role- Identifying and contouring all critical organs at risk on CT scans whether explicitly mentioned by the clinical staff or not- CT planning (using Raystation and Monaco) for patients undergoing radiotherapy, analysing requirements and making complex judgements regarding treatment parameters and patient dose effects to produce the required dose distribution over the treatment volume ensuring where possible the conformance to international standards e.g. ICRU50, 62 and 83- Working as part of the multidisciplinary team, supplying specialist planning input including anatomical scanning limits, patient positioning, treatment techniques, reference tattooing and appropriate fitting of patient immobilisation devices to millimetric tolerances.Oct 2016 to Oct 2021 - HCPC-registered Practitioner Therapy Radiographer, Leeds Cancer Centre, St James's University Hospital, Leeds. Responsibilities included:- A good understanding of the complete treatment process while rotating around the 12 Elekta linear accelerators and 3 Philips CT simulators- Daily QA checks of CT scanners- Prescribing sodium citrate enemas for prostate patients under the Trust’s Patient Group Directive- Selecting suitable immobilisation equipment for a wide range of patient positions as per departmental protocols- Scanning patients following departmental protocols for scan limits- Selecting suitable placement and tattooing reference marks- Undertaking mark up in clinic with clinicians for electron treatments- Liaising with clinicians regarding scan results and data preparation- Daily QA of the linear accelerators and fault reporting- Treating patients with a variety of specialist techniques, including adaptive radiotherapy, IMRT, VMAT, SABR, TSET, TBI, electrons, rolling head and spine- Using the MOSAIQ patient management and treatment delivery system.

Once the clinician has planned the treatment, undertaking Virtual Sim checks to assess the plans feasibility- Data preparation, checking prescriptions and plans in line with departmental protocols- Daily QA of the linear accelerators and fault reporting to the relevant department when problems arise- Treating patients with a variety of specialist techniques, including adaptive radiotherapy (i.e. plan of the day), IMRT, VMAT, SABR, TSET, TBI, electrons superficial RT, rolling head and spine- Using the MOSAIQ patient management and treatment delivery system -
