Through our archaeology program at the local university (the University of West Florida), the staff (and graduate students) have discovered 3 of the 6 galleons that sank in a hurricane from the original failed settlement of Spain's Don Tristan de Luna in 1559, who brought 1500 colonists to Pensacola to establish a settlement and claim the territory of West Florida for Spain.
