Read Side By Side is a publications and consulting company dedicated to bring quality research based literacy materials into 3rd-6th grade classrooms. The professional book Raising the Standards Through Chapter Books: The C.I.A. Approach (collect, interpret, apply) outlines a plan of action for students and teachers to read complex novels. Scripted units of study are available for 3rd-6th grades, giving teachers access to quality read aloud lessons that place all students in the complex text demanded of the Common Core Standards. As ELL Literacy Coordinator I supported schools in 25 districts in their improvement of English and Spanish literacy. This included providing systems support, professional development, classroom coaching, and technical assistance. I served schools in their implementation of the Common Core Standards, Response to Intervention, bilingual programs, ELL services, and various curriculum and interventions.

As Reading First Regional Coordinator I supported 20 schools in their implementation of core reading programs, assessments, and interventions. I provided systems support, professional development, classroom coaching, and technical assistance in English and Spanish literacy programs.

As Literacy and ELL Coach at Madrona Elementary in Highline School District, I supported K-5 teachers in their implementation of literacy programs. I conducted coaching cycles, managed literacy and assessment systems, facilitated grade level meetings, planned and provided literacy training, and supported district literacy initiatives.
