Profile bio

About Robin Sinclair

I’m a field ecologist with the Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC), living and working at Mt Gibson Wildlife Sanctuary on Badimia country in south-west Western Australia. In this role I help conduct ecological monitoring surveys, work on applied ecological research, and assist with reintroductions of locally extinct species. Since joining AWC as an intern in 2022, I have gained extensive fieldwork experience including animal trapping and handling, spotlighting surveys, camera trapping, bird surveys, and radio telemetry. I was previously employed as a research assistant at Deakin University where I assisted multiple PhD students with ecological research projects. I this role I helped organise and conduct extensive fieldwork in the Victorian Mallee and Wimmera, to deploy camera traps and collect scat samples, as well as processing hundred of thousands of camera trap images from across Victoria and screening papers for a systematic review.I have a particular interest in humane, evidence-based management of introduced species and in 2020 I completed an honours research project at Deakin University on the diet of foxes in Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park. Supervised by Professor Euan Ritchie and Hayley Geyle, this project was a collaboration with Parks Victoria.I am a keen birder and bird photographer, which led me to complete a Graduate Certificate of Ornithology at Charles Sturt University in 2021.
