I am the Past Managing Partner of Levenfeld Pearlstein, LLC, having served as Chairman and Managing Partner of the firm from January 2013 through June 2022. I am also a partner in LP's Trusts & Estates Group, my practice area of focus for more than 30 years. The intellectual challenges of my work offer a welcome opportunity to creatively problem solve on behalf of clients on issues of ultimate importance to them. My responsibility is to make the complex understandable – and to identify and give shape to my clients’ goals necessitates careful listening. I believe that the way in which I communicate information to my clients is just as important as the way I receive it. Estate and tax law can be exceptionally complex, and therefore a large part of my job is to present information in a manageable way to keep clients and their families informed and involved. I truly appreciate the trust placed in me by my clients, and in turn, work to bring insight and integrity to their matters, an approach that I believe has helped turn numerous new client relationships into lasting, personal ones.I was honored to be elected as a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) in 2002, and am a frequent speaker on estate and tax planning matters. I have also been a member of the faculty of the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education’s (IICLE) annual Estate Planning Short Course for nearly 25 years, and was a Managing Editor of the IICLE Asset Protection Planning handbook. On the personal side, I am active in a number of charitable and civic matters. I am a member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center. I also serve on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Rochelle Zell Jewish High School in Deerfield, Illinois. I also serve as a professional advisor to several other charitable organizations in Chicago. I am a proud graduate of the renowned Wexner Heritage Foundation leadership program.
