I am a technology company CEO, having founded five venture-backed companies, one of which went public on NASDAQ. My goal is to make a difference, and have fun while doing it.• My latest start-up was a renewable energy company that grew to over $100M in revenue, with an enterprise valuation of over $400M. • To fund the various companies, I have raised hundreds of millions of dollars from leading venture capitalists, corporate venture funds and sovereign wealth funds.• I have an international outlook, having lived in diverse locations including the San Francisco Bay Area, London, Geneva, Como, Muscat and Hong Kong.• I got off to an early start, attending University at age 16, receiving a Royal Air Force Flying Scholarship at age 18, and was appointed to the board or directors of a venture-backed technology company at age 24.

Board MemberGlasspoint Solar Feb 2009 - Jul 2019New York, Ny, UsGlassPoint has grown from two engineers in the back room of my house, to become the leading supplier of solar to the oil & gas industry. The oil and gas industry consumes a huge amount of energy and GlassPoint’s products allow operators to reduce production costs and emissions. The company has offices in California, Muscat, and Kuwait and operates a manufacturing facility in Shenzhen, China.GlassPoint’s flagship project is Miraah, which at 1,021 MW of peak power production, will be one of the world’s largest solar fields when it is completed. The project will save 5.6 trillion Btus of natural gas each year, and reduce CO2 emissions by more than 300,000 tons per annum. That’s more CO2 emission reduction that every electric car sold in the United States in 2015, from just a single project.I was the President & CEO for nine years from inception until the December 2016. During that time, GlassPoint formed strategic partnerships with Royal Dutch Shell, the energy super major, Petroleum Development Oman, the country’s leading producer of oil and gas, and the State General Reserve Fund of Oman, the nation’s largest sovereign wealth fund. -

Co-Founder & CeoNanomuscle, Inc. 1998 - 2004NanoMuscle miniature motors are used worldwide in millions of cars and children’s toys. The company took the technology from lab scale prototype to high volume production of an automotive grade component. The motors are based on shape memory alloys combined with proprietary electronics and software. They can be found in current Volkwagen, Seat, Audi, Mercedes cars and future BMWs. The company was sold to a leading tier-one automotive supplier. -
Co-Founder & ChairmanOnlive! Technologies, Inc. 1994 - 1998Sunnyvale, UsIn many ways, OnLive! was ahead if its time. The company developed a 3D virtual world with immersive multi-user voice over IP technology, all in 1994. The software was used by ABC Monday Night Football and MTV, and to this day there are still OnLive virtual worlds in use. The company also developed LiveList, one of the earliest instant messenger clients on the internet. OnLive! was one of the hot start-ups from the dot-com boom era, attracting investment from leading venture capitalists and strategic partners, including Kleiner Perkins, Mohr Davidow, NEA, Softbank, Merrill-Pickard, AT&T, Intel, Creative Labs and MCA Universal. The huge injection of capital, and the feeding frenzy around the early days of the internet, allowed us to hire the best and brightest from both the entertainment and technology industries, making OnLive! a unique and fun place to work. The company was sold to Communities.com in 1998. -
Chief Architect, Desktop Systems GroupNovell, Inc 1992 - 1994Provo, Ut, UsIn the early 1990s, Novell was the undisputed leader in local area networking software. It was a fantastic place to work and completely different from being the CEO of a small, venture backed, software start-up. I was the Chief Architect of Desktop Systems Group, which was responsible for everything that wasn’t the NetWare server, including the NetWare client and the recently acquired DR DOS and Unix operating systems, routers and Macintosh file sharing products. -
Founder & CeoInternational Business Software, Ltd. 1988 - 1992Windsor, Berkshire, GbThe company developed DataClub, the first distributed file system for the Apple MacIntosh, presenting users with a single unified hierarchy of folders that looked the same from anywhere on the network. That was big news in 1990 when the most common alternative was walking down the hallway with a floppy disk. Upon launch DataClub immediately went into the Merisel top 10 list of best selling software, where SoftPC was still also listed, and after two quarters of sales the company was acquired by Novell, who at the time were the undisputed leader in local area networking software. -
Co-Founder, Vp EngineeringInsignia Solutions, Inc. 1986 - 1988High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, GbInsignia developed SoftPC, the award-winning software emulation of the IBM PC. The product was widely distributed by many computer manufacturers. It was also sold through retail channels, where it appeared in the Merisel Top 10 software charts for an extended period. The company received the Queen’s Award for Export Achievement and the Queen’s Award for Technology Achievement, and went public on NASDAQ.Being on the board of directors of a venture backed, international technology company, at the age of 24 was certainly a learning experience. Insignia was a rocket ship ride, and I was delighted to continue working with some of the team from ComputerVision, as well as a whole new set of brilliant minds that joined us along the way. -
Software EngineerComputervision 1984 - 1986Norfolk, Massachusetts, UsComputervision (CV) was an early pioneer in Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM). I worked with an exceptional group of people at the European Development Group, developing the FactoryVision factory automation product running on the Unix platform on Sun Microsystems workstations. -
