I have many roles - corporate strategist, energy efficiency consultant, climate change advocate, business development expert, writer, disability advocate, husband, father, grandfather... but one that I have only recently begun to appreciate is Global Citizen.Since leaving home in 1978 with only a duffle bag, a passion for history and the environment and my Australian 'can-do' attitude, I have travelled to over seventy countries and conducted business in forty. I have lived and worked in Boston, Verbier (Switzerland), London and Paris and currently reside in California with my wife and disabled daughter where for the past twelve years I have been entrenched in the energy efficiency industry.As our world begins to truly grasp the reality of climate change, I can't help but question why my homeland of Australia isn't stepping up to lead the fight. As an island already besieged by floods and wildfires, Australia is living proof of the devastation warmer weather can bring. One of the Australia's greatest strengths is the knowledge and experience of the oldest continuing living culture in the entire world. The Australian First Nations people have so much to teach us all, and it's time we listened.
