Provide technical engineering support on a variety of Tactical Data Link and sensor simulation equipment, supporting Aegis Combat Systems testing, and provides proper connectivity via in house connections and telephone lines to facilitate such testing. The systems for which I am responsible include Common Connectivity Devices (CCDs), which interconnect to form networks designed to simulate Link-16 and Link-11 terminals and networks, allowing establishment of Data Link Networks via commercial communications technologies. I am also responsible for configuring and maintaining PC workstations associated with the Aegis Simulation Test and Training System (A-STATS). I am responsible for proper operations of the Integrated Warfare Systems Lab’s Multiple Link Test and Training Tool (MLST3) and the associated networks connecting the MLST3, CCD and A-STATS systems. I provide hardware-engineering support for the development of ASTATS, MLST3, and CCD projects for the Aegis and other weapon systems which use them, including the Distributed Engineering Plant (DEP). Also assisted the UMG (Universal Message Generator) development group. In this role, he created templates for use by the UMG developers that are to be used for creating the necessary scripts for the testing of BL 9 interfaces. Additionally, I am performing additional duties of receiving and shipping parts used for the building and upgrading of ASTATS, NGS, CCD, and MLST 3 systems and assisting in configuration management.
