My current role predominantly involves cell culturing, potency assays, ELISA, ordering of lab essentials, preparatory work for transition of our laboratory to a new building and reviewing and approval of data.

My role in the raw materials laboratory encompassed method transfers, writing of documentation, requisitioning of laboratory equipment, water testing and reviewing and approval of data. The most frequent forms of instrumentation I used included UPLC, U.V, conductivity, TOC and nitrates testing.

Swords

My role in Swords largely involved testing a variety of different products. The most frequent forms of instrumentation and techniques I used included, HPLC, UPLC, G.C, KF, and particle size.

I am currently conducting a multitude of different assays for the analysis of ginkgo biloba leaves. In terms of instrumentation these assays rely heavily on the use of HPLC.Further to routine analysis, I carry out work in the in-process (I.P) laboratory which involves analyzing samples from the plant in real time. For this work, I employ the following techniques, Gas Chromatography (G.C), Karl Fischer (KF), pH measurement, Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and UV-Vis spectroscopy.

My work predominately consisted of routine sample analysis using Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) and Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS).I also carried out research on a small scale and helped develop existing assays with a view of further optimisation.Further to this, I utilised the following forms of instrumentation on a more infrequent basis, Ultraviolet-Visible Spectroscopy (UV.Vis), Fourier Transform Infrared spectrometer (F.T.I.R), Surface Enhanced Laser Desorption/ Ionisation -Time of Flight- Mass Spectrometry (SELDI-TOF-MS) and Gas Chromatography (GC).
