Satellite System Network Engineer
CurrentDecember 2022 – CurrentPerforms operation and maintenance on Satellite Communications (SATCOM) terminals and associated network systems. Perform Radio Frequency (RF) spectrum monitoring to facilitate individual carrier adjustment, nominalization, troubleshooting, anomaly identification/resolution, and transponder power balancing activities to ensure proper performance, health, and welfare of space-based assets. Performs testing and diagnostic procedures on equipment according to published equipment standards. Performs administrative functions, calibration, and maintenance on RF Monitor monitoring system configurations to include the addition of new ground-based monitoring assets as well as the addition and deletion of spacecraft, transponder and individual carrier parameters. Responsible for the assembly, installation, configuration and/or testing of satellite equipment including RF & IF amplifiers, modems, routers, multiplexers, etc., along with associated wiring and cabling. Provides support for coordination activities with organizations, customers and other SATCOM users to assess availability of SATCOM requirements to support current and future operations and optimization of SATCOM resources for new and ongoing missions. Performs cross-pol testing and provisioning of VSAT remote terminals and coordinates with government organizations to maintain highest level of service for their circuits. Assists with the commissioning of VSAT terminals for both iDirect and Linkstar/ViaSat networks. Install, maintain, and repair complex communication systems. Responsible for service reliability on every aspect of communications from standard Personal Computer (P.C.) based systems up to switches, servers, modems, Intermediate Frequency (IF) converters, and Ku Band Super High Frequency (SHF) amplifiers. Provides subject matter expertise and development of TTPs.
