As a Physics Tutor, I travelled to Scottish schools with higher education progression rates significantly below the national average, tutoring school pupils from disadvantaged social and economic backgrounds throughout the city of Glasgow. I worked with school pupils on a one to one basis and teach them in technical topics within the SQA Higher and Advanced Higher Physics curriculum. I also coach pupils in important skills such as time management, study techniques and exam preparation. I provided tuition to a number of students, giving them vital assistance in utilising their potential, enabling them to attain their desired exam results and secure placements of study at university level. When can, I continue to tutor in my spare time.

During my time at the University of Strathclyde I participated in FOCUS West, an educational support and guidance programme designed to widen access to higher education, specifically aimed towards pupils from schools with low progression rates to higher education. Working on Focus WEST, I took on the role of a Student Mentor. During university programmes tailored towards introducing secondary school pupils to university courses, I guided and supported pupils involved in the programmes both technically and emotionally, as well as helping them become accustomed to life at university.
