Performing quantitative analysis of crude oil entering refinery, including determination of salt content by titration and filterable solids determination to ensure regulatory compliance.Creation of an enhanced product surveillance database, which would notify the chemists when a particular product needed to be spot tested. Compiling of a refinery data reporting document that contains pertinent data from various refinery units to be sent to management and compliance organizations daily.

Working under the laboratory supervisor, I was responsible for performing boiling point, sulfur content, api gravity, viscometry, acid number titration, salt content, softening point, and total solids assays on stored and incoming crude oil samples. During my short time with the company I processed over 75 crude oil samples from various wells, while streamlining and optimizing the time-consuming distillation process, also training three of the regular lab technicians on the distillation process. I also spent several days shadowing the lead process engineer, touring the refinery and discussing the various refinery units and process parameters involved in the production of Cross' lubricant products. During my time I gained experience in crude oil assay and specification, including vacuum distillation, x-ray fluoroscopy, gravimetry, viscometry, TAN titration, and colorimetry. I also familiarized myself with the refinery's PFD and PNID, and the various units and processes involved in the distillation and hydrotreating of the refinery's various products.

Under the GIS coordinator, I carried several responsibilities important to infrastructure and operations for the city, including maintenance of the city's water, sewer, and storm water data sets in relation to engineering and survey drawings as well as GPS data. These data sets consisted of tens of thousands of database entries for various features including pipes, valves, inlets, hydrants, manholes, meters, and lift stations. I was also responsible for assigning to citizens and developers in that complied with the city's addressing guidelines and communicating the assigned addresses to various city, county, and private agencies, during my tenure I accurately processed several thousand address assignments. I also coordinated with city dispatch and fire for approval of new street names in accordance with city street naming guidelines, as well as maintenance of the street center-line database, and street address guide. one major project I was responsible for was creation and maintenance of an as-built overlay layer used by many of the cities offices, this layer displayed polygons around structures and properties which would import appropriate spatially oriented as-built documents when clicked, allowing city engineers, code enforcement, and water and sewer department to view such documents as they related to the actual structures, this data-set contained over fifteen thousand as-built and engineering drawings. I regularly took on miscellaneous side projects including data entry and analysis, cartographic map production, and parcel editing.
