In 2023, Dr. Helm-Stevens accepted a position at Augustana University. During her initial campus visits, she was impressed with the university’s leadership team, the faculty team, and the students at Augustana. During her interview with President and Provost, she was impressed with Augustana’s Viking Bold the Journey to 2030 and their commitment to the mission and vision. She also appreciated their value system and the care they have for the community, the university, and the students. Prior to joining Augustana, Dr. Helm-Stevens joined the School of Business and Management faculty at at Los Aneles faith-based college in 2000—teaching in both the Graduate and Undergraduate Programs. January 2019, Stevens accepted the Interim Dean position. Helm-Stevens accepted the Turnaround Challenge and began to work on a myriad of management and financial issues. She led several restructure initiatives and successfully changed the trajectory of the School of Business and Management. She was able to turn around a low-performing school into a viable, student serving, profit producing cost center. Her work can be seen in the School of Business and Management Annual Report.Her areas of teaching include business and management. She has additional expertise in organizational behavior, organizational development, performance management, and employee development. Through her dedication to excellence, she has acquired a reputation as a gifted professor. Her course evaluations are in the top five percent of the university. Her students laud her creative and inspirational approach to teaching. She is quite adept at infusing interactive teaching into a variety of pedagoligical formats. Prior to higher education Helm-Stevens worked in public and private industry, during which time she held management positions in various industries. Throughout her corporate career, Stevens received recognition and numerous awards for her work in performance improvement, benchmarking, and best practices. Active in her field, she received national certifications from the International Society for Process Improvement and the American Society for Training and Development.Stevens received her MBA with specializations Leadership and Human and Organizational Development. She received her Doctor of Business Administration with a specialization in Strategic Management from Alliant International University.
