Manage Mechanical Design Engineers and Project Engineers for material handling projects. Report direct to Executive Management. Schedule internal resources to support project schedules. Locate qualified contract engineers as needed to maintain project schedules. Provide guidance and direction to engineers when issues arise on projects. Work direct with internal and external fabricators.

Supervise and assist Project Engineers (direct reports) to help them maintain individual project schedules, project costs, and assure customer’s specifications are met. Assign and manage direct reports workload (approximately $20 million yearly). Interview, select, and develop new project engineers. Personally lead individual projects as group workload dictates to maintain project/group schedules. Involved with engineering integration of company acquisitions.Work with proposals group on complex RFQ’s. Work directly with customer to assure all needs will be met. Perform site measurements and onsite trouble-shooting of project issues. Organize and run company-wide project meetings. Provide engineering direction to internal engineering groups, third party engineering groups, and global, inter-company engineering groups. Review and provide disposition on customer warranty claims.

Responsible for review of customer specifications, creating layouts, and sizing complete material handling systems. Oversee detailed engineering by mechanical and electrical design engineers. Identified, selected, and contracted outside engineering firms. Worked with internal and external fabricators located worldwide. Assisted in initial review and implementation of 3-D modeling software.

Worked in Material Handling Group designing slide gate and rack and pinion valves. Elevated into design all of the material handling group’s products, including company’s premier product - explosion-proof coal gravimetric belt feeders. Additional experience in design of Boiler Optimization product line equipment and helped in R&D design of company’s Triboelectric Flow Separation System. Performed engineering calculations to support mechanical design of equipment.

Worked in Standard Crane Dept. designing overhead traveling cranes. SAP was used to create bills of material used by production. Calculated girder stresses and sized electric motors and gearboxes. Also, worked on standardizing previously special crane types and options. AutoCAD was used to create new drawings.
